In the winter in Florida, I experiment with citrus recipes, specifically grapefruit recipes.  We have a grapefruit tree in our backyard and each year it gives us more and more perfect fruits.  The first year we lived here, we got one grapefruit.  The next year, three.  Last year we had about 15!  I just looked at the tree yesterday and it was loaded with almost 30.  I have got to get busy on some citrus goodies.  Last year,  I made grapefruit curd for Christmas gifts (win!) and attempted to make chocolate covered candied grapefruit (fail!).  But, one of the most special and easiest things I have been making is broiled grapefruit.

I almost feel silly calling this a recipe but I had never done it before and so maybe there are others of you out there that haven’t tried this either.

How to Make Broiled Grapefruit

Basically, you halve the grapefruit and then sprinkle turbinado sugar over each half.

Place under the broiler for about 10 minutes until the sugar on top starts to caramelize.

Serve warm and don’t forget to drink the grapefruit juice.

So yum!
