We have been on the move.
The last two weeks consisted of a week long work trip, an out-of-town swim meet, and an out-of-town gymnastics meet.
I don’t mind though—I love checking out new hotels and having adventures in new places. I love having someone make the bed. I love having a wide assortment of clean towels always at the ready.
Have I mentioned how much I love hotels?
This particular weekend, I reserved a one bedroom room at the Hilton Grand Vacations on International Drive in Orlando, Fl. We were there for a YMCA States Swim Meet but I figured we could celebrate Rosie’s birthday at the same time.
She was able to invite her best friend to come along. They had a great time at the swim meet–can’t you tell?. They weren’t bored at all. They loved watching swimmer after swimmer dive into the pool and swim FOR HOURS.
Their reaction to the hotel room was quite the opposite. Some might even call it priceless.
They jumped from room to room yelling, “This is the life!” (No idea where they got that phrase but it seemed to be a popular one this weekend.)
They bounced on the bed and hopped into the bathtub.
They were truly impressed.
I was just as impressed—a one bedroom, one bathroom suite with a full kitchen and a screened lanai for the price of a regular hotel room–is hard to beat. The room was decorated with upscale furnishings–everything clean and comfortable.
We were all loving this place and we hadn’t even made it down to the pool area.
The Hilton Grand Vacations on International Drive is, like all of their Grand Vacations properties, part of the Hilton time share program. But, you don’t need to own Hilton time share to visit—you can book a room just as if you were booking a regular hotel room.
It is a good idea especially if you want the extra room or the option to cook “at home”. The properties tend to be more exciting too—resort style pools, ongoing activities, and special events–like poolside Karaoke!
We spent some time by the pool but we were disappointed there was no water slide—you would think a fancy and new pool complex would include at least one. They are a huge draw for kids.
The resort is very close to the Orlando Outlet Mall—and they even have a little walkway that goes directly there. So, if you are into bargain shopping (Cathy!)–this will be a real perk. It is also very centrally located to Disney, Sea World, Universal, and the Convention Center. You need a car to get around but everything is only about 10 minutes away.
This place is perfect if you want a kitchen, extra space, and easy access to all of Orlando’s attractions.
But, if your trip focuses on Universal, Sea World or activities at the Convention Center—you have to go to the Hilton Orlando! It may be my new favorite hotel. Post on that coming soon.
